International Colloquium On Civic Education, National Integration To Hold In Yaounde

Members of the organising committee will be installed today, June 17 in Yaounde.

Representatives of government, the civil society, religious organisations as well as international organisations such as La Francophonie and the Commonwealth, amongst others, will converge in the nation's capital, Yaounde, from the July 8 to 10, 2013. They will participate in an international colloquium organised by the Ministry of Civic Education and Youth Affairs to promote a sense of social harmony in the Cameroonian society.

Holding on the theme, "Civic Education and National Integration: Stakes, Challenges and Perspectives for the Construction of an Exemplary Cameroon," the international colloquium will see lectures and workshops that will examine the increasing acts of public indiscipline observed daily in social, political and economic spheres of the country. Acts which, organisers say, affect public morals, thus resulting in declining ethical and fundamental civic values such as love for the fatherland, solidarity, peace, concern for general interest, tolerance and the culture of merit.

Participants will be expected to lay down feasible stratagems to train citizens on the notions of civic values, unity, patriotism and national integration. Recently appointed members of the organising committee of the colloquium will be commissioned today, Monday June 17, 2013 at 3pm at the Conference Centre in Yaounde.
