Israel’s Embassy supports local initiative

Ambassador of Israel to Cameroon, Ran Gidor Ambassador of Israel to Cameroon, Ran Gidor

Inspired by the way Cameroonians can help take control of their destiny, the Ambassador of Israel to Cameroon, Ran Gidor, has taken upon himself to expose the activities of a non-governmental organisation initiative-Generation Change; a grassroots organisation-model in community mobilisation that includes everybody in bringing change in the society.

It is within this backdrop the Embassy of Israel in Yaounde organised a meeting between the media and social networks during which the Cameroonian development initiative-Generation Change was better explained to the media and other diplomatic missions in the country.

Ambassador Ran Gidor hoped that through the meeting, people not only in Cameroon but other countries will follow the example of Generation Change initiative which is all about changing the mentality of Cameroonians for a progressive country.

One of the members of the initiative, Harry Fon Acha said it is about getting Cameroonians know that they are responsible for their own development and they should not only wait for others to come and help.

He explained that they are out to get people identify problems in their immediate environment and try to find solutions to them. Harry Fon said the initiative in itself is a solution because it is the problem that spurs the need for a solution. “The initiative is out to harness potentials amongst Cameroonians” Harry Fon noted.

So far the association has carried out 32 projects in the country with 31 fully sponsored by Cameroonians. The projects amongst others include the building of bridges, schools and other social amenities in different localities in the country.
