Israeli Ambassador Bids Farewell

Ambassador Miki Arbel had an audience on October 24, 2013 with Prime Minister Philemon Yang.

The outgoing Ambassador of Israel to Cameroon, Miki Arbel, says he joined other international observers and international community to witness the September 30, 2013 twin legislative and municipal elections in Cameroon and stated that, "We are proud to see the democratic process in Cameroon growing better and better."

Speaking to reporters after a farewell audience with Prime Minister, Head of Government, Philemon Yang yesterday, October 24, 2013 at the Star Building in Yaounde, the Israeli diplomat said four elections, notably the October 2011 presidential election, election of Senators on April 14, 2013 and the twin legislative and municipal elections of September 30 took place during his stay in Cameroon. After having lived the high moments of the elections, he appreciated the democratization progress and the country's leadership and society.

He equally used the discussions with the Prime Minister to draw the balance sheet of his activities in fostering Cameroon-Israeli relations. Miki Arbel said his major focus was in the agricultural sector which is the bedrock of the economy. He disclosed that he spent the four years equally visiting the different parts of the country to share his experiences and also invited Israeli experts to build the capacities of the populations. The outgoing Israeli diplomat would want his successor to work to maintain the good bilateral relations and also visit both the urban and rural parts of the country to strengthen cooperation ties.
