Issa Tchiroma Bakary shunned by his colleagues

The Minister of Communication was the only Minister present at the opening ceremony of the 3rd edition of the government action fair (Sago) where the majority of the members of the Government were still expected.

As in the previous two editions, the Minister of communication Issa Tchiroma Bakary, personal representative of the Prime Minister head of Government, delivered the opening speech of this 3rd edition of the government action fair (Sago)after several hours of delay.

He was accompanied by, Fritz Ntonè Ntonè, the delegate of the Government in the urban community of Douala and Luc Assamba Mayor of Yaoundé II. This took place at the conference hall of the palais des sports of Yaoundé.

Ordinary guests were also invited to take a seat on padded chairs, primed to welcome the members of the Government who were curiously absent. "Yet they all received invitations and gave their agreement in principle to take part", one of the organizers of this show to popularize Government action and stimulate the accession of populations to all initiatives undertaken by the public authorities regrets.

Everybody present stipulated that the event was not well programmed as a result of the fact that until 1 0’clock, August 20, 2014, the first conference discussion with under the theme "management of waste, economic issues of the time", scheduled at 11 00am had not begun.

On the contrary, the Minister of Communication was still carrying out his one-man show in the exhibition stands prepared for the occasion. Not at all different from the 2nd edition where the sectoral communication from the Ministry of economy, planning and development of the territory which was to be held just after the opening ceremony, on the theme "The economic policy of the nation, as well as the land use planning" had finally not occurred.

These shortcomings in the Organization of the third edition are not a surprise to savvy minds, because programmers are still struggling to learn the lessons of past failures. In 2012, for example, the opening ceremony was finally held in the dark. And the Minister of public health, André Mama Fouda, whose arrival had been repeatedly announced, finally did not arrive.

The delay with which the event has been launched does not envisage best days for this show bode. Patrice Assiga Eyene, Commissioner of this meeting, is indeed already accustomed. Fortunately for this third edition, it still noted a massive membership of exhibitors.

Unlike the previous two editions, several departments and agencies have occupied pit at the esplanade of the palais des sports as well as associations. Only the indifference with which the members of the Government perceive this initiative raises questions on its relevance and durability.
