Brigadier General Kouame Akissi was received at the Secretariat of State for Defence on Sunday April 27, 2014.
The visiting female Ivorian Brigadier General Kouame Akissi visited the Secretariat of State for Defence (SED) on April 27, 2014. Kouame Akissi was received on arrival by the Inspector General for Defence, General Mambou Deffo Roland.
This was followed shortly after by a closed-door working session with the General Mambou Deffo Roland and his collaborators in the conference room of the Secretariat of State for Defence. After the working session, General Kouame Akissi visited the operational centre of the National Gendarmerie created in June 1999 to fight high crime wave and also an element for the promotion of proximity gendarmerie. She also watched a mock demonstration of the activities of the centre.
Speaking to journalists, General Kouame Akissi said she the purpose for her visit was to see the experience of Cameroon. She said Cameroon included women in the national gendarmerie in 1985 and since then, it has been successful. She said the experience of Cameroon is an example to copy and that is what her country is going to do.
