JCI Decry Moral Decadence

They have called on youths to be of good moral standing so as represent Cameroon in future. Members of the Junior Chamber International, JCI, Cameroon has joined their voices to that of the government in the fight against indecency amongst youths. They made the call on Saturday, April 5, 2014 in Bamenda during their First National Assembly for the year 2014.

During the meeting, members pledged their support to empower young Cameroonians as well as to continue educating Cameroonians to be of good moral standing. Prior to the general assembly, members of JCI were involved in human investment activities such as the sweeping of some major streets in Bamenda and some public offices.

For the president of JCI Cameroon, Gordon Anyele, their mission is to provide development opportunities that empower young people to create positive change. He called on youths to desist from alcoholism, smoking, scamming and other negative behaviors. He said it was high time youths think positively on how to develop Cameroon. He explained that JCI is a worldwide community of young active citizens aged between 18 and 40 from over 150 countries who share in the belief that in order to create positive change, collective action must be taken to improve individually and globally. The First Assistant SDO for Mezam urged members to continue promoting youths and ensure that they contribute to the development of Cameroon. While disclosing that government has placed JCI under the Ministry of Culture, he used the opportunity to call on members to continue with their mission of volunteerism.
