Journalist Gerard Abada is dead

Gerard Abada, a journalist working for ‘Quoitien de l’Economie’ newspaper is no more.

The jovial reporter died on Thursday August 13, 2015 at 3:00 a.m. at the Jamot Hospital in Yaoundé after a lung infection. He was 37 years old when he died.

A source close to the family of the deceased said Gerard Abada took ill three weeks ago and was hospitalised at the Jamot Hospital where he was diagnosed of severe pneumonia.

According to our source, Gerard Abada was prescribed some medical examinations to conduct at the Centre Pasteur Yaoundé. On Tuesday August 11, 2015, he was discharged from hospital and the doctor asked him to wait for the results of the tests at home.

Unfortunately for Gerard he passed away even before the results were ready. He died in his home in the presence of his brother and sister. His body was taken to his home town, Akonolinga, the same day and preserved while funeral arrangements are going on.

Gerard Abada began the early years of his career as a journalist with the famous Radio Campus. He later left the radio Campus and joined Magazine l’Emploi.

He later became a reporter with Quotidien de l’Economie newspaper where he became popular in the journalism profession till his death. Gerard Abada left behind a 12 year-old daughter and his family to mourn him. He will be buried on August 29, 2015 in Akonolinga.
