Junior Staff Learn Telecom Management Skills

A training workshop by the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation kicked-off in Yaounde on September 10.

Some 31 junior staff of the Telecommunications Regulatory Board, TRB, are currently upgrading their knowledge on the functions of management, communications and delegation of authority and responsibility.

Opening the four-day workshop, the Technical Adviser N° II at TRA, Madame Ba née Ada Mve said there is a tendency for consumers of telecommunication products as well as services and professionals of the sector to sometimes forget the importance of good administrative management. This explains the need for continuous training of junior staff who will one day be at the helm and work effectively for the progress of the organisation and the society as well.

Amongst the 31 junior managerial staff are groups assigned to manage frequencies in order to prevent frequency interference between actors of the telecommunications sector. Another group is charged with the responsibility to protect consumers. The group has to ensure quality services ensuring subscribers are neither deceived nor extorted when they sign up for various calling plans.

The last group comprising communicators, has the responsibility to keep the public informed of the missions and activities of the various regulatory bodies and build positive working relationship with the media. The aforementioned, according to Madame Ba née Aba Mve falls, in line with the mission of TRA to ensure on behalf of the State the regulation, control and monitoring of the activities of whole and retail network operators as well as providers of electronic communication services.
