The Korean International Corporation popularly known as KOICA, recently established a computer lab and a library for Government Secondary School Limbe.
Speaking at the ceremony last October 24, the very elated Principal of the college said the strength of a building is not determined by the super structure, rather by the quality of its foundation.
Madam Ayompe Haddassah Limunga Mbake questioned “What a quality foundation we have thanks to the collaboration and corporation between the World Friends Korea and Government High School Limbe? This is the foundation that determines our enduring capability in the face of a changing world and changing value systems.
While welcoming the KOICA delegation, she said the KOICA representative in GHS Limbe, Mr Hwang Won UK is a specialist in computer software and that he has a passion for work adding that his projects to cumputerise the Library and enhance the Computer Laboratory was a very satisfying one.
“In fact, he was sent to us at an appropriate time and was equipped with sufficient expertise to carry out the daunting task.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Representative of KOICA Cameroon who headed the delegation said he was very pleased with the welcoming nature of the city of Limbe and its people.
He said the project carried out by Mr. Hwang was the beginning of more collaboration between Korea and Cameroon and promised that the collaboration will be extended even after the departure of Mr. Hwang. Speaking earlier to the project implementer, Mr. Whang thanked what he termed his New GHS Limbe family for being very open to him and his initiatives.
He thanked the computer staff of the school with whom he worked with throughout the project, promising to continue to see it yield results. At the end of the presentations there was a visit to the project sites as all present were taken aback by the quality of computers and internet services in the various halls that housed the project.
Speaking at the end of the day, the representative of the Divisional Delegate of Secondary Education, Chief Albert Ekema continued by expressing the wish for his ministry to benefit from such collaboration.
He assured the Koreans that the Government will do its best to maintain the cordial relations between the two countries. While speaking to the media, the Deputy Representative of KOICA, reassured that KOICA and the Korean Government will continue to make its mark visible in Cameroon through different issues.
The Korean International Corporation Agency (KOICA) was created in April 1991, with the implementation of Korean grant aid programs in developing countries as main mission.
It also serves as mediator for the World Friends Korea programme, by observing the programmes activities.
The KOICA Cameroon Office was officially launched on September 30, 2011, since then KOICA has dispatched more than 60 Korean volunteers to Cameroon.
