KONDACULA expose rich cultural diversity in Limbe

KONDECULA Members from all over the country recently gathered in Limbe for their annual cultural festival and fundraising, for the renovation of the guest house in their village.

The ceremony was full of display of the rich Northwest Culture and that of the Konda People in particular. The ceremony was presided over by the Mayor of Limbe I, represented by the Public Relations Officer, Sama Charles.

Also present was the Brigade Commander the President of Northwest Cultural and Development Association, Limbe, Joseph Mbah Mbole as well as their Fon himself. Speaking at the opening Ceremony, Charles Sama, representative of the Mayor expressed delight in the massive turnout of the population as a sign of unity.

He said Limbe is a town of friendship and welcomes people from all over the country. Also speaking at the ceremony, the Brigade commander called on concerned persons to join the association so that if one has a problem he or she can be identified.

The President of NOWECUDA Limbe stressed on unity and hard work as a key to development. He challenged the members to pay their contributions and dues for the development of their village. He cited numerous examples of how it is done in other villages in the North West Region and other parts of Cameroon.

The Fon took the floor and explained that what the other speakers had said was the gospel truth; he reminded his subjects that the village belongs to them and they must develop it before waiting for the government.

Speaking to THE SUN at the end of the event, Wanja Christopher, the National Treasurer of the association said, he felt delighted because the people came out in their numbers and willingly to contribute to the renovation of their guest house at Konda, despite the hard times.

To the President of the Association, though it was a success, he hopes that in the future the event will be bigger than it was this year.

He said the association will go ahead to launch a call for tenders between now and December, select the best bidder and in December construction work will begin. The president told THE SUN that the secret of his association is awareness creation, using the bottom-top approach in everything; people oriented leadership and shared vision.
