Lim Jae-Hoon, new Korean Ambassador to CMR

His Excellency Lim Jae-Hoon, the new Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Cameroon, was born on October 18, 1960.

He was Minister-Counsellor in his country’s Embassy in The Philippines from 2012 until his recent appointment. The holder of a Bachelor’s degree in French Language and Literature from the National University of Seoul in 1985, he later earned a Diploma in Diplomacy in 1991.

Ambassador Lim Jae-Hoon was Counsellor in the Embassy in France from 2009, Director of Economic Cooperation in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade from 2008 and also served in the Cabinet of the Head of State from 2007.

Beginning his diplomatic career in 1991 in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he became Second Secretary in his country’s Embassy in Cameroon in 1995. From 1998, he served in the same position in his country’s mission to the United Nations Office in Geneva, Sweden, before becoming Counsellor in Ireland in 2004.

Quite abreast with the Korean and French languages, His Excellency Lim Jae-Hoon, who is married and a father of two children, takes over at a time of growing relations between Cameroon and the Republic of Korea.

Cameroon and Korea on December 23, 2014, signed a loan agreement for the construction of the Garoua Referral Hospital in the North Region. The Yaounde Emergency Centre has been constructed and equipped by the Korean government, while the KOICA Alumni Association of Cameroon (KAAC) is waxing strong.

It held its sixth cultural jamboree in Yaounde on December 6, 2014 as a way of enhancing understanding between both countries, which will in turn strengthen bilateral cooperation.

The Republic of Korea is also assisting Cameroon with the construction of three Vocational Training Centres of Excellence in Limbe, Douala and Sangmelima, as well as the National Institute of Vocational Trainers and Programme Development in Yaounde.
