The Limbe I Council has once again given back to the communities as part of its policies. The ceremony which took place at the conference hall of the Limbe I Council was attended by a handful of councillors and the Chairperson of the Education Committee, Madam Eyere Takor.
Presiding over the ceremony, Mayor Rodanny Mbua said it is the councils’ way of supporting the children in their academic pursuit. He cautioned the beneficiaries to make good use of the money that the council has put at their disposal.
He added that, this year the council was very lenient in the selection process as many students were just selected because they applied. Mayor Roddany stressed that, next year, it is going be very competitive hence any one without an average of 12 to 20 will not be awarded.
The Council boss explained that through the councillors and the education committee, they would see how to increase the amount dished out to the students.
Meanwhile the Chairperson of the Education Committee, Madam Eyere Takor, said education is the bedrock of every community, hence the council is simply playing its role as local authorities to make education accessible.
Another member of the Education committee, who spoke to THE SUN, is Senior Councillor Peter Kum. According to Senior Councillor Peter Kum, the Mayor is implementing the deliberations of the council.
Meanwhile, a few students who spoke to THE SUN lauded the initiative of the mayor since the scholarship schemes was coming just after the council had paid out some money for holiday jobbers.
