Some heavy duty equipment from Canada in a three 40ft containers were off-loaded last Saturday July 5 at the Options for Homes Cameroon construction site in Limbe II Subdivision.
When we got to the site, work on the construction of over 500 low cost houses was seriously going on.
The arrival of equipment from Canada came after officials from Canada told reporters that the Social Housing Scheme will import its own equipment for the construction work.
Concrete mixers, stone crushers, a TB 285 Caterpillar, PJ Trailers, off- loading machines, construction trucks etc were part of the things that came out of the containers.
Speaking to reporters at the site, the young and dynamic Chief Executive Officer of Options For Homes Cameroon, Henry Neba Awantoh, said it is just a confirmation of what they said they would do.
According to Neba Henry, the equipment will facilitate the construction of the targeted number of houses. He added that it will also be put at the disposal of the community after construction as a prove of the fact their mission is to empower communities.
Asked about the complexities of handling such equipment, Henry Neba explained that there are 3 experts from Canada who accompanied the equipment. He said the Canadians will carry out training sessions with 15 young people from the community on the usage of the equipment.
After the training, Henry Neba said that they will be certified and the best ones will be retained by the company to work with the equipment.
