MINAS committed to uphold national solidarity

The Ministry of Social Affairs (MINAS) has organised a workshop to elaborate a policy document on national solidarity.

The workshop which started on 15th December 2014 in Yaounde was chaired by Social Affairs Minister, Catherine Bakang Mbock in the presence of the Minister of Public Health, Andre Mama Fouda.

While opening the meeting, Minister Catherine Bakang Mbock noted that the forum will reinstitute solidarity and sharing as values of the Cameroonian society.

The strategy document to be elaborated and adopted is part of the recommendations put forth during the first forum on national solidarity organized in June 2005.

Participants at the workshop include over 200 representatives of the public administration, civil society, public and para-public institutions and associations of socially vulnerable people, from all regions of the national territory.

By the end of the two-day encounter, a final document to be adopted will detail the conception and organization of national solidarity in Cameroon.

The meeting was prompted by the gap between demands for public assistance and the expected responses. The slow response exposed the need to develop a plan on financing national solidarity.
