A Memorandum of Understanding to protect and promote the rights of the disabled has been signed between the National Commission for Human Rights and Freedom (NCHRF) and the Platform Inclusive Society for Persons With Disability (PFISPWD).
The memorandum elaborated to protect the rights of about 1. 6million disabled persons in Cameroon was signed in Yaounde on 2nd December 2014.
Some 56 associations of disabled persons endorsed the MOU in which both parties undertook to meet regularly to identify priority areas of assistance for the disabled.
The accord which is renewable after four years was elaborated to mobilize society on the plight of the disabled and combat stigmatization.
Dr. Chemuta Divine Banda and Mr. Francois Kenfack signed on behalf of their respective institutions.
