Members of the Finance Committee were yesterday, November 19, 2014, debriefed by State officials.
As the National Assembly looks forward to receiving, studying and approving next year’s State budget, Members of Parliament are already getting set.
It is in this respect that the Finance Committee and Technical Support team yesterday, November 19, 2014, at the Ngoa-Ekelle, Yaounde premises of the National Assembly, received training on understanding the preparation and makeup of the Finance Law.
Opening the one-day workshop, which was facilitated by a team from the Ministries of Finance, and the Economy, Planning and Regional Development, Finance Committee head, Hon. Moutymbo Rosette Ayayi, said it was intended to improve the efficiency of participants.
This, she added, was made the more urgent by the complexity in preparing and understanding the State budget, following the 2007 finance reforms. “They therefore need to be equipped with the necessary skills to study the budget by listening to those who prepare it,” she explained.
Asked when she expected government to submit the 2015 Finance Law or Appropriation Bill, Hon. Ayayi said it did not depend on her; adding that her role was to receive and study the document when it was ready.
Also present at the opening of yesterday’s workshop was the Clerk or Secretary General of the National Assembly, Victor Yene Ossomba.
