The commercial motorbike rider was transporting a passenger who sustained injuries.
The early hours of Friday December 28, marked the tragic end of a motorbike rider who was crushed to death on the Wouri Bridge, after a head-on collision with a truck. He was transporting a female passenger, who sustained serious injuries after the accident. According to eyewitness accounts, the bike rider was overtaking another vehicle, when he came into direct contact with the oncoming truck. At press time, the female passenger was receiving treatment at the Laquintinie Hospital, while the driver's remains had been moved to the hospital's mortuary, pending identification.
Later the same day, a young boy aged about 15 was saved from retributive justice in the Ngangue neighbourhood. CT gathered that while playing with his friend, the young man accidentally wounded his mate on the right wrist with a broken bottle. When the victim's relations were informed, this led to a violent verbal exchange between both families, as the victim's family insisted on "punishing" the other boy. However, relative calm returned after the intervention of benevolent passersby. Meanwhile, the wounded boy was taken to a nearby health unit for medical attention by the assaulter's father.
