Manufacturers put 207.54m in anti-Boko Haram crusade

Manufacturers in Douala, the economic capital of Cameroon have clubbed together to raise CFA 207.54 million to support the defense and security forces deployed in the war front in the Far North region to fight Boko Haram.

This is a partial contribution, Governor of the Littoral Region Joseph Beti Assomo said, adding: since the money collected is only that of the inhabitants of Douala, I am convinced that we will get further good results when contributions from other departments and localities in the region join us.

Given the prowess and bravery our military demonstrated against a fearsome enemy, we believe this kind of solidarity action involved in boosting the moral of the troops, he added.

In addition to the money, other in-kind contributions including staple foods (rice, canned sardines, sugar, tapioca, etc.) have been collected, suggesting that the Littoral region could double its contribution by a week, the Governor’s office said.

In recent weeks, all Cameroonians across religious, political or ethical considerations have been multiplying solidarity and support towards the security forces to show these valiant soldiers who decided to sacrifice themselves to ensure our security and the territorial integrity of our country that they are not alone in this noble fight.
