Ministers respond to MPs preoccupations

A question answer session has been organised at the National Assembly. Members of Parliament questioned ministers on a number of issues concerning their departments.

The first question was from Honourable Dimebele Boui who wanted to know how the 145000 refugees in Cameroon are being treated and what measures are being put in place to ensure territorial integrity.

The Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralization, Rene Emmanuel Sadi said Regional Governors have been instructed to put in place stringent measures not only to protect Cameroonians but to safeguard the rights of these refugees.

The Minister contended that government, in collaboration with specialised partners are introducing poverty alleviation projects in refugee host communities in a bid to upgrade the lifestyle of the refugees.

Honorable Tomaino Ndam Njoya was concerned about the poor treatment of Muslims at the airports during their holy journey trip to Saudi Arabia.

The Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralisation said the problems experienced were due to the fact that the pilgrims did not respect the requirements of the Saudi Arabian government, some of which included an obtention of a biometric passport and the registration formality.
