Mixed reactions follow alcoholic beverages price hike

The increase in the cost of this drink has not discouraged beer lovers. Some beer lovers seem indifferent towards the increase of the price of beer on the market.

According to Claude Ondigui, a salesman, ‘I received about the same number of customers as I used to. The increase has had no impact on customers' finances’ he noted. The only fear with this increase according to him is that consumers may decide to cut down the amount of beer they consume.

When he informed them of the increase in the price of alcoholic beverages, the majority brushed aside the issue of increased price on the commodity saying, "We will still drink’.

Jean-Jacques Abena, farmer explained that despite this unexpected increase, for him, he will continue to have fun and drink as he wants. Yet one of his neighbors does not share the same opinion. Ludovic Essono, a taxi driver, stressed that the beer companies were exaggerating and the issue of increase is unclear. "Sometimes they talk about 75 F, sometimes, 100F; I do not understand anything."

In a demi-depot drink at the Efoulan neighbourhood, the bar lady brandished a note from a company malting laying down the procedures for implementation of the rights of Assizes. Where it was explained, "we are obliged to revise upward our rates of beers and alcohol from February 12...".
