Mukete states case for Kumba I hosting HTTTC

The former Kumba I Mayor has asserted that locating the newly created Higher Technical Teachers’ Training College, HTTTC, in Kumba I Municipality rather than in any other location would bring more development to Meme Division. Prince Ekale Mukete raised the argument Monday, April 14, in the course of deliberations on the 2013 administrative and management accounts session of Kumba I Council.

According to Ekale, it is best for Kumba I to host the institution given that it remains the headquarters of the entire Meme Division despite being an administrative unit on its own.

To him, Kumba I Subdivision is synonymous to Buea being the headquarters of the Southwest Region. He argued that, if Buea which is the Regional capital benefited most in terms of projects for the celebrations of Cameroon’s 50th anniversary of Reunification, then Kumba I should be given the priority as a Divisional headquarters to host the HTTTC.

Ekale further indicated where land could be gotten to host the institution but the SDO, David Koulbout Aman, “called the session to order”.

The SDO told the former Mayor that his suggestions were good but that the forum was not quite appropriate, given that it was a Council session dedicated to the 2013 administrative accounts of the Council and not HTTTC Kumba.

Koulbout urged Ekale to visit his cabinet for any further suggestions but insisted that deliberations concerning the location of HTTTC Kumba will only continue when the Vice Chancellor of the University of Buea, Dr Nalova Lyonga, returns from abroad.
