NCC cautions journalists to uphold ethics

The National Communication Council, NCC has organized a seminar in Bamenda.

The seminar which was held under the theme “The Social Responsibility of the Journalist.” was presided over by its Vice President Peter Essoka.

It was an opportunity for the council to remind the men and women of the media of their role in the advancement of the society.

How should Journalists carryout their duties with dignity? This was the focus of the exchange that led Peter Essoka insist on the social responsibilities of journalists and how they can carry out their functions with dignity. It is also an issue conscience, the Vice President of the NCC stated.

Participants of the seminar all agreed that Journalism is a dignified and noble profession hence should not be based on lies and rumor.

The National Communication Council organizes the seminar at a time when Cameroonians look up to the press to get accurate information on major challenges including the Boko Haram threat and the Ebola epidemic that has accounted for the death of 1500 persons in four west African countries.

The Governor of the North West Region Lele L’Afrique called for a closer collaboration between the media men and women and the state.
