The President of the National Union for Democracy and Progress, NUDP, Bello Bouba Maigari is mobilizing his party supporters to register massively in the ongoing biometric recompilation of the electoral registers and vote its candidates for the NUDP to have a Parliamentary Group in the National Assembly and win more councils. He was speaking at the NUDP headquarters in Yaounde on February 16, 2013 as he received 2013 New Year wishes from party officials and supporters.
NUDP that currently has six out of the 180 Members of Parliament in the ongoing eighth legislative period of the National Assembly wants to regain its leading position of March 1992 legislative election in which the party won 68 seats. Stating that 2013 was a turning point in Cameroon's democracy, Bello Bouba stressed that NUDP must do everything possible to win more seats in the National Assembly, councils nationwide and the Senate, as well as continue to be an exemplary party. Winning elections, he said, starts with registration. He stated the party's resolve to provide more material assistance to its representatives in the Joint Voters' Registration Commissions. He promised necessary measures to address the grievances of supporters.
Central Committee member, Mefogo-Bitouga Albert on behalf of the NUDP officials and members, wished their National President, Happy New Year 2013. He called on the party President to take all measures to mobilize supporters for upcoming elections, make the amended party constitution available and requested hierarchy to put the interest of supporters above personal interest of officials. Mefogo-Bitouga urged party officials to fight hard to ensure that electoral constituencies reflect demographic strength. The speeches punctuated by traditional dances, paved the way for hand shakes and happy New Year wishes. NUDP supporters also presented gifts to Bello Bouba.
