ELECAM Board Chairman; Dr. Fonakm Azu'u will be criss-crossing the North West region during the next 20 days to ensure that all is well before, during and after the September 30 twin elections.
He told Cameroon Tribune on September 16, that all board members are in the ten regions for a rehearsal on some procedures towards September 30. They are also distributing copies the code of conduct to election stakeholders, ensuring that election materials are around and setting records straight on some controversial issues.
Dr. Fonkam Azu'u told pressmen in Bamenda that the North West will handle 2,105 polling stations on September 30 and the training of station commission members will soon be on course. Working sessions have been programmed with supervision commissions while the distribution of election materials is also on course.
On alleged irregularities in the electoral process; Dr. Fonkam Azu'u said a few people are trying to bend the rules and appealed for collaboration to fish them out for sanctions. It was against this back drop that he revealed that the Boyo Divisional delegate of ELECAM and the Belo Council have been suspended for acts that do not give ELECAM a good perception in the organistion of the elections. As at September 16, 2013 the North West had distributed 405,484 voters cards of a total 497,703 received, representing 81.5 per cent.
