National Assembly - Fostering Cameroon-Côte d'Ivoire Relations Discussed

The House Speaker received the President of the Constitutional Council of Côte d'Ivoire.

The Speaker of Cameroon's National Assembly, Hon. Cavaye Yeguie Djibril yesterday, July 16, 2013 had discussions with the President of the Constitutional Council of Côte d'Ivoire, Professor Francis Wodie focused on strengthening relations between the two countries. On the eve of discussions with Hon. Cavaye Yeguie Djibril, Francis Wodie had discussions with the President of the Senate, Niat Njifenji Marcel and Prime Minister Philemon Yang.

Professor Francis Wodie is heading a delegation that is currently touring Chad, Cameroon, Gabon, Congo and South Africa. The tour he said, is to strengthen relations with institutions of the countries visited playing a similar function as the Constitutional Council, through sharing of experiences. He further said the tour is intended to enable countries move in the same direction as way of fostering African integration. The senior official said there was a link between the Constitutional Council that ensures the strict respect of the Constitution and the National Assembly that votes laws. He wished to see the putting in place of the Constitutional Council in Cameroon whose role is at moment played by the Supreme Court.
