National pedagogic inspectors review methods of teaching German

National pedagogic inspectors came together to reflect on the promotion and improvement of the teaching methods for German language on Monday April 7 at Our Lady of the Benedictine monk at Mont Fébé, Yaounde.

The subject of the German national seminar is to equip national pedagogic inspectors for competence in teaching the German language under the theme: "how to teach based on the competence approach”.

This session is linked to the holding of the first national Congress of teachers of this discipline. This seminar brought together all German pedagogic nationals, as well as experts from abroad, including Austria, the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG) and Indonesia.

Until next Thursday, seminarians will examine several sub-topics revolving around essential questions including: what skills must a good teacher possess? what are the key learning processes teachers must know?

The launch of the work was chaired by the Secretary general of the Ministry of secondary education (Minesec), the Pr. Gérard Pougoué, in the presence of the Ambassador of the FRG in Cameroon, Dr. Klaus - Ludwig Keferstein.

In his opening remarks, Pr. Gérard Pougoué recalled the importance of such a seminar, stressing that German is the third language, after french and the English, most taught in lycées and colleges of Cameroon. He noted that there's no need to mention that the Cameroonian students constitute an important part of Germany.

He expressed keen interest in addressing the pedagogical methods used to teach this language. This method is meant to uncovers the loopholes in the old techniques and allowing the student to acquire skills that could solve real problems in everyday life.

He concluded his remarks by wishing participants to work calmly in order to take advantage of this seminar in all respects.
