The Minister of Public Health, Andre Mama Fouda has received the 17th Chinese Medical Mission in the country.
The medical team consisting of paediatricians, radiologists, gynaecologists, general medics and pharmacists, amongst others, will work in Cameroon for a two-year period in three different hospitals:
•Yaounde Gynaeco-Obstetric and Paediatric Hospital •Mbalmayo District Hospital •Guider District Hospital
The team of 45 workers is made up of 31 new members that add up to the 14 who were part of the outgoing 16th mission.
During the ceremony which served as reception of the new mission and send-off for the outgoing one, the Minister of Health Andre Mama Fouda assured the team of government’s support throughout their service.
Chinese ambassador to Cameroon, H.E Wo Ruidi on the occasion, lauded the outgoing team for their sacrifices and expression of humanitarian spirit during the two years of service.
The Sino-Cameroon health partnership was instituted in 1975. Since then, over 540 medical doctors have worked in Cameroon. The outgoing mission during their sojourn attended to approximately 78,000 patients and performed over 6,000 operations.
