Lose your sight, but keep the vision of an inclusive society seemed to be the motive for the officials of the institution, Cameroon Club of blind Youth rehabilitation centre, which started recently, the construction of the new headquarters of the school Louis Braille.
Gisèle Bouanga-Kalou, Ambassador to Congo-Brazzaville in Cameroon, as well as officials from NGOs visited the building on the occasion of the 26th anniversary of the institution, Monday in Yaounde.
Located a few meters from the current site of the school, situated in Ekie, Yaoundé, the building stands on three levels. A large project with a value of nearly 300 million F that will increase the capacity of the school and give a better living for the young blind residents of the school.
Workers have already started the construction of the basement that will house two dormitories with a capacity of 36 rooms, kitchen space, a shower room and four classrooms.
Unfortunately, the project faces the deficit of financial resources and the difficulty of acquiring educational materials for the blind.
"We want classrooms to be ready by the next school year. Unfortunately we have not yet brought together the 140 million F necessary for the completion of the work", explained Coco Bertin, seeking support from their partners.
