Newly appointed Commanders assume office

The pioneer Commander of the 21st Motorised Infantry Brigade Colonel Eyenga Severin and the commander of the 10th Military Sector in Cameroon Captain Nzo Lucien have pledged to give their best by fostering peace and security in the South West Region and the rest of the country.

This was during the occasion of the installation of the two military officials of the region presided over by the Minister Delegate at the Presidency of the Republic in charge of Defence, Edgar Alain Mebengho at the Buea Independence Square recently.

The installation precedes the presidential decree of February 21, 2015 appointing Colonel Eyenga Severin and Captain Nzo Lucien to the position of commanders to foster national security.

While presiding over the ceremony, Defence Minister, Edgar Alain Mebengo reminded the newly installed of the security challenges facing the country and reiterated the responsibility the military officials have towards the South West Region on both small scale and the entire state.

The functions of the newly installed become demanding in the areas of ensuring social peace, security, territorial integrity and national unity for emergence.

As regards Boko Haram’s persistent attacks in the North of Cameroon and other Maritime and highway security challenges, the minister cautioned the newly installed, reminding them that their mission might be delicate because it enhances the effective functioning of our defence forces, but that no inconsistencies will be permitted”.

Minister Alain Mebengo also appreciated the South West Region for their unfailing hospitality towards the defence forces and solicited a consolidation of the same support.

In his part, the mayor of the Buea council Ekema Patrick in his address to colonel Eyenga and Captain Nzo Lucien emphasised on “assiduity” in the execution of their functions.

The newly installed both accepted the responsibility given them, promising unrestrained efforts towards boosting the defence sector of the nation.

Also present at the installation ceremony were administrative officials, military personnel, civil society actors and traditional rulers.

Therefore with all effort to boost the security situation of the nation, tremendous achievements will be reached when every stakeholder in their closet will be responsible enough to play their varied roles.
