Ngaoundere Hospital to tighten security system

The Ngaoundéré regional hospital has been facing a worrying phenomenon of unknown individuals who sneak into their facility, particularly at night, pretending to be caregivers in order to steal from patients in recent weeks.

These rogues extort money, mobile phones, clothes and valuables from staff and patients in the health facility.

"Both doctors and patients have been the main target of these criminals. Victims have expressed their anger through complaints to the administrative authorities", the Director of the regional hospital of Ngaoundéré, Vohod Deguime said.

Faced with this phenomenon, a number of stringent measures have been established by the head of this health institution, "the first step we have taken is gather information on these rogues. We have asked everyone to alert authorities on any suspicious persons".

"If an individual is sitting in a curious posture in corners, or on a chair particularly in the night, they can confront and query them. If the person is unable to provide the right answers, they can report him/her to authorities as a suspect.

The second measure is a collaboration with the police. Police officials recommend that patients and health officers remain vigilant while they manage the situation.
