The swearing in ceremony took place at the Mfoundi High Court on November 20.
Nine Environmental Inspectors of the Ministry of Environment, Protection of Nature and Sustainable Development (MINEDED) appointed by ministerial order n° 013/MINEPDED of 25 June 2013 were sworn in at the Mfoundi High Court on November 20, 2013 to enhance a healthy environment. During the swearing in ritual carried out by the President of the Mfoundi High Court, Schilick, the nine inspectors promised one after another to accomplish their environmental protection mission dutifully. Four of them will focus on aquatic, coastal and marine unit, one on land and another on air and the atmosphere while the remaining three are service heads of chemical waste management, norms and approval or visa.
According to article 11 of decree n° 2012/2808/PM of 26 September 2012 bearing the conditions for environmental inspectors and controllers to exercise their functions read out by an attorney during the ceremony, the nine will inspect, control and carry out investigations on environmental aspects as well as punish offenses in the domain in conformity with the roles and regulations in place. They will also carry out investigations to ensure that the laid down recommendations made during inspection are implemented. As stipulated by the decree, inspectors and controllers will equally see to it that all international conventions signed concerning the environment are respected to the least clause.
