Roger Nkodo Dang from Cameroon was elected chairman of the Pan African Parliament (PAP) for a three-year term Wednesday in Midrand, South Africa, an official source told APA on Thursday.
Hitherto PAP’s first vice-president, the successor to Nigeria’s Bethel Amadi won by 85 votes, piping Mozambique’s Eduardo Joaquim Mulembwe (70 votes) and Tunisia’s Rahoui Mongi.
South Africa-based PAP is an advisory body of the African Union (AU) composed of national parliamentarians who meet in regular session twice a year.
