North West - SDF Chairman Campaigns For Massive Registration

The Chairman of the Social Democratic Front (SDF), John Fru Ndi has embarked on a regional tour of the North West Region to lure eligible voters to register on the biometric registration list. The sensitization tour that has so far taken Fru Ndi to Momo Division was a rare moment for local party officials to disclosed difficulties as well as exposed some practices they claim to be fraudulent by ELECAM officials.

At each stop, be it in Widikum, Batibo, or Ngie Chairman John Fru Ndi called on the population to register so as to choose their leaders. He said it is only through registration that they can vote. He said voting is a civic right and as such all have to register no matter their political background. He was optimistic that the number of registered voters will increase in the days ahead

As to what prompted the sensitization tour, Mr Fru Ndi revealed that he received reports that some people are collecting registration receipts from voters, multiple registrations in Ambelle village amongst others. The issue of insufficient biometric kits was also raised as it slows down the pace of registration. John Fru Ndi called on ELECAM officials in Momo Division to use the "country Sundays", traditional resting days to register voters as on these days most of the villagers stay at home. The tour continues this week to other parts of the region.
