Northwest and South Regions to launch the 49th National Youth Day

At the opening of the annual week dedicated to the youth in Cameroon, the town of Bafut in the Northwest and a village of the Department of the Lokoundje southern region will symbolically become the centre of the country for a day.

As tradition, makers of youth policy in Cameroon and external elites, will commune with the inhabitants of towns "chosen" on the occasion of the launch of festivities dedicated to the national youth day 2015 edition.

These localities are Bafut in the Northwest Region and a village located in the Department of the Lokoundje, Southern Region. According to an official of the Ministry of youth and Civic Education, the principle of national solidarity wished that the successful launch areas are the far North, where many compatriots are put to the test by the exactions of the terrorist sect Boko Haram.

"Due to the presence in these launches of special guests, who are Commonwealth Ministers, we prefer to organize these launches in areas where the risks are limited".

In 2012, the official launch of the national youth day activities had taken place in Bertoua (Eastern Region). In 2013, the launch took place at Babessi Northwestern and Lagdo in the North, in communities affected by serious floods. Last year, it is the locality of Maga in the far North that housed this highly symbolic ceremony.
