Officials to manage parking lots in cities to prevent traffic

In line with activities to check urban disorder and civil protection in the city of Douala, the préfect of Wouri and the delegate of the Government within the Douala urban community, among others, visited the site Thursday, August 28, 2014.

This was an opportunity locate truck that are not parked well hence reducing the carriageway which eventually leads to traffic jams.

According to the préfect of the Wouri, Naseri Paul Bea, this is as a result of the activities at the Douala port as trucks parked there are waiting to resolve paperwork with port authorities. Now, the parking of the truck along the road will be banned, unless authorised by the prefecture.

On the other hand, at Marché Congo, there were difficulties in turning. The roadway were invaded by shops and itinerant traders. They were also been given 10 days to vacate the road before they are forced to do so. According to the administrative authorities, the police will be authorized to bring order to this place.

According to Fritz Ntonè Ntonè, the reflections continue due to the creation of mixed brigades of police-gendarmerie intervention as a follow-up. The uniform terms and conditions will be also defined in relation to the management of car, parks and parking lots in the city.
