More than 500 children received Christmas gifts from the first lady Chantal Biya during the lighting of the Christmas tree event at the Chantal Biya Foundation in Yaounde.
The event which occurred on 23rd December in Yaounde was presided over by Mrs Marcie Niat- wife of Cameroon’s Senate president who represented Mrs Chantal Biya.
The beneficiaries of the Christmas gifts all came from the Chantal Biya Foundation, other social centres caring for abandoned and orphaned children and from some primary schools in Yaounde.
The traditional Christmas tree lighting ceremony also coincided with the Foundation’s 20th Anniversary which was created to enhance the plight of the underprivileged in the society.
Mrs Chantal Biya said they will continue to work with the same passion to improve on the livelihood of Cameroonians.
The same gesture was manifested recently during the lighting of the Christmas tree at the State House where more than 96 children received Christmas gifts from the First lady.
The ceremony was attended by some members of the Diplomatic corps including some state dignitaries and members of the Circle of Friends in Cameroon, CERAC.
