PM Yang and his cabinet: No easy walk to financial freedom

Prime Minister Yang Philemon and former Prime Minister Simon Achidi Achu both hail from the North West constituency. Their similarities end there.

Yang Philemon did open the budgetary session of the National Assembly last Friday pleading with the members of parliament to examine the 2015 budget bearing in mind the “grand realisation” projects President Paul Biya had envisaged for the country.

Cameroon Concord has gathered the MPs gave the Head of Government a run for his money. Our reporter at the National Assembly hinted that Prime Minister Yang Philemon alongside Ministers Emmanuel Nganou of the Economy and Alamine Ousmane Mey of Finance were given a proper scrutiny in the Finance Committee at the National Assembly.

We understand Cameroon is experimenting its budget for the third time and the MPs are not happy with the situation. It is expected that the 2015 budget will be 3,500 billion Fcfa. Marcel Niat Njifenji President of the Senate was quoted as saying the MPs simply followed normal procedure of controlling public finance.

For the MPs to have succeeded in making things difficult for two prominent cabinet ministers in the Yang administration, is indeed enormously satisfying for the Economic Desk of Cameroon Concord. So Yang unlike Achidi Achu will not have too much cash to be throwing around on lame and ridiculous reason that he is fighting the SDF.
