The Prime Minister, Head of Government, Philemon Yang has granted an audience to the outgoing Resident Representative of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Boriana Yontcheva.

The IMF Resident Representative was at the Star Building to say goodbye to the Prime Minister after a 32-month stay in Cameroon.

Cooperation between the IMF and the Government of Cameroon came under close scrutiny.

After the tete-a-tete, Boriana Yontcheva faced the press to size up relations between Cameroon and her institution; relations which she qualified as commendable.

The IMF boss appreciated development strides made by the Cameroon Government and promised to stand by her.

She specifically mentioned Cameroon’s development challenges including the management of fuel prices and threats regarding the country’s territorial integrity caused by the terrorist group, Boko Haram.

The outgoing IMF Resident Representative stated that the major stumbling block regarding Cameroon’s economic development efforts is a more credible business climate capable of attracting foreign investment.
