PNDP Realizes First Micro-Projects in Bakassi

Two co-sponsored projects worth FCFA 25.6 million to enhance human capital were recently the subject of feasting in Bamusso Sub-division.

The inhabitants of Mbongo, a locality in Bamusso Sub-Division, were happy recipients of a sumptuous building for Government Nursery School (GNS) costing FCFA 21,475,000 and a Ventilated Improved Pit (VIP) latrine at their Government High School worth FCFA 4,114,100. Bamusso is one of the seven maritime Sub-Divisions of Bakassi and one of the nine in Ndian Division of the South West Region.

Both structures, built and equipped in three months, were co-financed at 90 and 10 percent respectively by the National Community-driven Development Programme (PNDP) and the Bamusso Council (local government).

The Divisional Officer for Bamusso, Sangi Emmanuel Njaba while inspecting the structure as magnificent, commended the contractors for respecting the terms and hailed the sponsors for the offer. He announced to the people of Bamusso that many other projects were in the pipeline, urging them to be patient, loyal to the State of Cameroon and hard working. The Regional Coordinator of PNDP explained that the realizations were a product of the Bamusso Community Development Plan whereby the villagers themselves identified and prioritized the construction of a nursery school for their growing infant population and the toilet for the hygiene of over 225 students of GHS Mbongo.

He announced the next co-sponsored project to be the community guest-house at Iloani Balondo in a no distant future. The Mayor of Bamusso promised on behalf of the population to jealously keep the structures for longer generations to use. By December 2013 when the current phase of the Programme is planned to end, the PNDP shall have injected some FCFA One and half Billion in micro projects to impact the lives of over 1.3 million inhabitants across the South West Region.
