Patrice Nganang released briefly after his arrest

The writer, academic and activist Patrice Nganang who was arrested Monday morning was released in the afternoon.

He was arrested at Foyer des marins in Douala with 3 other people at the time when he was to lead a ceremony to reward courageous journalists.

The international price of Bibi Ngota, named after a Cameroonian journalist who died in 2010 in Kodengui Prison in Yaoundé in circumstances non-clarified, is awarded each year to those who distinguished themselves by courage and determination to fight against impunity in Africa.

The activist has never hidden his hostility to the regime of President Paul Biya.
