On the eve of the adoption by the Cameroon National Assembly of the act against terrorism, a petition entitled "repeal of the anti-terror law by the National Assembly of Cameroon" was launched on the www.change.org website.
It was the initiative of a Cameroonian journalist in France Abdelaziz Abdelaziz Moundé.
The Commission understands that the new law is intended to stand in the way of those who intend to contest the nomination of the president of Cameroon for the election of the year 2018.
"Unquestionably, this came in a year of anticipation, to guard the challenge of the power of president Paul Biya, neutralize the questioning of his candidacy in 2018 and to prevent the implementation of measures for the effective, fair and beneficial favour of Cameroon", argued the former collaborator of the daily Mutations.
Abdelaziz was concerned that "there will be a return to 1962 emergency laws, texts of terror, punishing subversion, which led thousands of politicians, nationalists, intellectuals and citizens in the dungeons, cellars, cells and prisons of the mixed mobile Brigade, Tcholliré, Mantoun, Yoko and Kondengui and before the firing squads of the army".
"It is the dawn of a great expression of the commitment to the core values of human rights. We will not cross our arms! The campaign continues", announces Abdelaziz.
