President Biya gives orientation on 2016 Budget

The President of the Republic of Cameroon, Paul Biya has given guidelines for the preparation of the 2016 state budget.

These instructions contained in a 13th August 2015 Presidential Circular that focuses on the macroeconomic projects initiated by government.

The Presidential circular previews Cameroon’s long-term projects as those capable of bringing about sustainable development, growth acceleration, job creation and better living standards.

The directives are in line with a Growth and Employment Strategy Paper produced in January 2013 that highlights the various areas of government interest and the projects to be executed as part of the 2035 vision.

One of the most prominent long term development projects is the Lom Pangar Hydro Electricity which is at over 90 per cent execution.

Through the project, government’s intent to boost power supply and consequently improve on living standards nationwide.

Other major ongoing projects include the Kribi Deep Seaport which will help to decongest the Douala port, the Menkin and Memve’ele project and the second bridge over the River Wouri.

Considering the fact that Cameroon will host the 2016 and 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in the female and male categories respectively, the government is on the offensive with the construction and rehabilitation of Stadia, hotels, roads and social amenities.

Despite security challenges facing the country, government has instenfied security nationwide, a means that will favour development and restore calm and serenity.

It is also important to note that all these projects are in line with Cameroon’s 2035 vision.
