Public Works - Building Infrastructure As Priority Action

Patrice Amba Salla defended the ministry's budgetary allocation on December 2 morning.

The priority action of the Ministry of Public Works in 2014 will be to the building of the second bridge over River Wouri, Yaounde-Douala express road, giant road projects, farm-to-market roads and the head office of the ministry. Minister Patrice Amba Salla made the declaration on the early hours of December 2, 2013 after defending the Ministry of Public Works' budgetary allocation for 2014 in the Committee on Finance and Budget of the National Assembly. The defence was in the presence of the Vice Prime Minister, Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Relations with the Assemblies, Amadou Ali and Finance Minister, Alamine Ousmane Mey.

He defended a budgetary allocation of FCFA 262.592 billion against FCFA 252.735 billion in 2013. The projects envisaged will be constructed with a public investment budget of FCFA 196.728 billion against FCFA 184.000 billion for 2013. The recurrent budgetary allocation ' stands at FCFA 65.864 billion registering a drop from the FCFA 68.735 billion for 2013.

Besides building infrastructure, the Ministry of Public Works also intends to continue maintaining the existing infrastructure through the rehabilitation of the road network and improving the state of the road network by maintaining and protecting existing roads through effective coverage and management of rain gates and weighing stations. The ministry equally plans to conduct technical studies for infrastructure as well as intensify governance and institutional support in the Public Works Sub-sector.
