Cameroonian pupils and students nationwide have been urged to be implicated in the preservation, promotion and development of the country’s rich cultural heritage.
The call was made last August 22 by Arts and Culture Minister, Ama Tutu Muna as she chaired the official closing ceremony of the 5th edition of 2014 Holiday Workshop organized at the Public Reading Centre by the Ministry of Arts and Culture last July 14 to August 8.
The Minister equally advised parents not to suffocate cultural talents in their children in an attempt to impose their dreams on them because such attitude will rather retard the development of the children.
The demonstration of talents by these pupils and students in front of the Minister, parents and the general public repeatedly provoked thunderous applause from curious spectators. Many spectators were quick at declaring that many of the youth have brighter days in the cultural sector if they can live up to what they demonstrated through live music show, ballet etc.
Some of the pupils and students who talked to The SUN while expressing gratitude to Arts and Culture Minister, Ama Tutu Muna for such a laudable initiative and their parents for deciding to send them to attend this holiday workshop reassured that they will not quit the cultural base implanted during this holiday workshop.
As the appointment was taken for the 6th edition next year during the 3rd term holiday, Minister Ama Tutu Muna expressed the wish that many pupils and students massively indicate their interest for participation through registration.
