Respect CMR Judiciary; Govt tells France over Eyoum case

The Cameroon government has issued a strong statement via its minister of communication Issa Chiroma Bakary stating that the French government should respect the independence of the Cameroon judiciary.

The Cameroon government spokesman was reacting to pronouncements made by Romain Nadal, spokesperson for the French Minister of Foreign Affairs. Ever since French-Cameroon Barrister Lydienne Yen Eyoum was sentenced to 25 years in prison on corruption charges, French public opinion has gone awash with sympathizers of the Paris based lawyer calling on the French government to severe links with Cameroon.

The Biya regime responded by saying Cameroon will no longer tolerate any form of political interference into its judicial system. It should be recalled that The French government ordered President Biya to release with immediate effect Michel Thiery Atangana another French-Cameroonian citizen and confidante to the then Secretary General at the Presidency of the Republic Titus Edzoa who was also jailed for 25 years. Biya and his Francophone Beti-Ewondo regime have reduce Cameroon to zero.
