The Chairman of the National Commission on Human Rights and Freedoms (NCHRF), Dr Divine Chemuta Banda has called on managers of public and para-statal enterprises in Cameroon to be sensitive to the rights and privileges of employees and communities.
He made this call during a press briefing in Yaounde on Tuesday 14th October, 2014.
The press conference was to discuss the outcome of the NCHRF’s evaluation visits to some home-based corporations.
The main objective of the visits was to evaluate the application of human rights in businesses in the Northern and Southern parts of the country.
To Dr Banda, the resettlement site for persons displaced due to the construction of the Kribi Deep Seaport was inappropriate and the victims squandered the money given them for rehabilitation.
The Human Rights Commission boss however expressed satisfaction with the situation in Lom Pangar where new settlements were put at the disposal of the displaced local settlers.
