The Government of the Federation of Russia has donated food and other useful items to internally displaced people, victims of insecurity.
The items were handed over to Cameroonian authorities for onward transmission by the Russian Ambassador to Cameroon, Nikolai Ratsiborinsky.
The package handed to government authorities at the Douala Bessengue train station included two thousand tons of flour, cooking oil and other basic commodities.
Territorial Administration and Decentralisation Minister, Rene Emmanuel Sadi received the package and paid heartfelt gratitude to the Russian Government that has always been on Cameroon’s side especially at a time when the Government faces a number of security challenges.
The Boko Haram insurgency in the Northern part of Cameroon and the political instability in the Central African Republic have not only ushered in a number of refugees into Cameroon, but has also accounted for a number of internally displaced people.
This donation from the Russian Government adds up to other benevolent actions from Cameroonians and international partners to support these victims, most of them settled in refugee camps.
