Russian Vice Minister appreciates cooperation

The Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation in charge of Relations with African countries and the Representative of President Vladimir Putin in the Middle East, Mikhail Bogdanov has lauded the political will of President Paul Biya of Cameroon and his counterpart, Vladimir Putin of Russia to foster bilateral relations.

The Russian Minister spoke to reporters lately at the Star Building in Yaounde after Prime Minister; Head of Government Philemon Yang received him on behalf of President Paul Biya.

Mikhail Bogdanov disclosed he had political consultations with Cameroon’s Minister of External Relations, Professor, Pierre Moukoko Mbonjo, an occasion that coincided with the celebration of 50 years of diplomatic relations between Cameroon and Russia.

The talks in Yaounde followed those held in Moscow, Russia in 2013 in which Cameroon’s Minister of External Relations and Defence participated, he revealed.

On the specific areas discussed during the Yaounde talks, the Russian Foreign Affairs Vice Minister said they reviewed all areas of bilateral cooperation.

He however, singled out the economic cooperation component in which Cameroon’s Ministers in the economic sector participated.

“We also discussed cultural cooperation and Russian assistance to Cameroon in the field with focus on the training of Cameroonian officials in Russia,” he said.

He expressed satisfaction at the warm reception the Prime Minister accorded him and his delegation and concluded that, “We are happy that there is the political will of our two leaders to further strengthen our relations.”
