SDF 25th Anniversary: Who created the party?

“The Untold Story” on the party’s genesis will be launched today, May 25, 2015 in Bamenda.

One of the greatest controversies that have haunted the Social Democratic Front (S.D.F.) party is its creation. Several versions told or written over the last quarter of a century have attributed roles to key actors such as late Siga Asanga, late Albert Mukong, Dr Mal Fobi, Ben Muna and Ni John Fru Ndi, amongst others, for the creation of the party that changed Cameroon’s political landscape when it was launched in Bamenda, chief town of the North West Region on May 26, 1990.

However, the controversy is about to take another twist or be put to rest with the publication of a book entitled “The Untold Story” on May 25, 2015 at the Ayaba Hotel in Bamenda, as one of the highlights of the Silver Jubilee celebration.

During the press conference given by the National Chairman of the S.D.F. on May 16, 2015 in Yaounde, Ni John Fru Ndi said the book gives the true story on who-did-what in the process of creating the party. “Information has been unclassified and will be told,” he promised.

The march past of thousands of S.D.F. members was remarkable during the May 20 parade in Yaounde presided over by the Head of State, Paul Biya, with the SDF National Chairman attending, amongst other guests and State dignitaries.

Today’s book launch will lead to the celebration proper tomorrow, May 26, 2015, with a Grand Rally at the Bamenda Commercial Avenue as from noon. An anniversary message from the National Chairman is highly expected after the laying of wreath at Liberty Square for the Martyrs of Democracy in 1990.
