SDF Rejects Voting Without Voters' Cards

Party Chairman, Fru Ndi challenged the dual management style at helm of ELECAM.

The raison d'être of the biometric registration of voters ahead of the twin elections of September 30, 2013 has been questioned by the opposition Social Democratic Front, SDF in the backdrop of what party Chairman, Ni John Fru Ndi calls a controversial decision of July 22, 2013 by the Director General of Elections, directing "voters not in possession of voters cards, but whose names appear on the list of the polling station to be authorized to vote."

Fru Ndi told pressmen in Bamenda on July 29, 2013 that the decision is a gross violation of section 103 of the Electoral Code and an attempt to mar the September 30 elections with massive fraud. The decision also allows room for ghost, ambulant and multiple voters according to Fru Ndi. It is against this back drop that the Chairman says the party will mobilize to check voting by any person without a voter's card.

Fru Ndi further stressed in a press release that the Director General of Elections in Election Cameroon, Mohaman Sani Tanimou is about to destroy the electoral process. Away from that, the SDF National Chairman wants to know who is who in the leadership of ELECAM. In effect, Fru Ndi wants to know who, between the President of the Board and Director General is the Chief Elections officer in Cameroon.

He claims that there is a dual management style at ELECAM which causes the elections organ to suffer organizational and functional hazards.
